I got my iPhone today! I got my iPhone today. Of course, it's made me feel the most materialistic I may have ever felt. As I told my DH, at the moment I can really understand and relate to the sentiment "My Precious"!

Where to start, where to start?

Bad news first: Obama is disappointing me and pissing me off--where does he get off towing the Republican line about gay marriage? It makes every one of the good things he's done suspect. What's his ultimate agenda? What is just about getting a black man in the White House? If so, screw him. If it was about changing things for the better, why doesn't he support EVERYONE who voted for him? I thought he just hadn't had time to deal with it, what with everything, but apparantly not. Apparantly he thought long and hard and decided that he wasn't really a Democrat after all.

Better stuff: Yesterday, Don and I applied for a Shiloh Shephard puppy. (Shiloh Shephards are long-haired German Shepherds, basically.) We'll know in the next few weeks if we've been accepted or not.

Towards a Clean House

Yesterday, there didn't seem to be enough hours in the day to do everything I needed/wanted to do online. Today, there doesn't seem to be ANYTHING to do, and I'm bored! I'm so bored I'm even thinking of going and doing dishes!

On a related note, yesterday, I joined Flylady.net. I'm desperate to make my home be clean and to make it STAY clean. I've gotten to the point where I'll do ANYTHING!

Stuck

Is 15 the outer limit of posts I am capable of making? I just noticed that (previous to this one) I had 15 posts on this blog, and I didn't have much else to say. My sketchblog, too is sitting at 15 posts, with the last one being posted some two years ago or so. What's up with that? Is 15 some magic milestone? If I can just post this and get past 15, will it get easier? Or do such steps come periodically along the way? And, if they do, how do you know when they are? If that is indeed the case, then I just got really lucky in finding it!

Here's to jumping past this hurdle to many happy posts in the future, on both blogs!

Worrying about My Dog

At the moment, I'm very much worrying about my dog Merly's leg. Seemingly out of the blue she started limping, badly. She stumbled a bit yesterday, but there was no limping, so I thought she'd just tripped. Now I'm worried she either did something to herself then or else she stumbled because her leg hurt her. Vet's closed now, we'll see how she's doing tomorrow morning.

Friend Request

Surprise, surprise, surprise! I got a Facebook request to be friends with an old boyfriend today. I have, in the past, considered what I'd do if my ex-husband every asked, but I never even gave a thought to ex-boyfriends. True, this particular ex and I parted friends at the time, but do I want to include ANY ex-boyfriends?

Modern Society is wrong!

Magical Night

Before I forget, I should write about Saturday. Don and I decided to grill, and we always grill extra when we do, for dishes we make during the week. So, while Don kicked off the grilling, I brought out Smirnoff Green Apple Coolers. YUM! We sat out on the back step and grilled and drank and enjoyed a beautiful late-afternoon here in Southern Ontario. It felt truly magical. So much so, in fact, that I was loathe to go in when we finished grilling.

But we did, and the magical night continued. The grilled salmon was like mana, and the Smirnoff cooolers kept tasting just as sweet. We watched a particularly good episode of Flashpoint and went to sleep on a bed of stars!

Sometimes the simplest things are magick!

School is Back in Session

Off to run a few errands, after which I will return, finish my BOS, and start my new school career in earnest.

Magic Circle School

Just joined an online witch school -- the Magic Circle School. They have a long, long, long list of classes that I'm interested in taking, and they seem sane and reasonable. (Always important. ;> ) I'm really looking forward to it.

Meeting REAL people

Finally, a blog post on the actual day it happened!

Joining Covenspace paid off. I'm actually in touch with a real, live, human being near us! Yeah!

Far North

With our love of roadtrips, we got it into our heads to go as far north as we could go by road while staying in Ontario this past Victoria Day weekend. We found a little logging road that headed about 100 kms north of Cochrane, Ontario, and got to the end of it right about sunset.

This timing made the trip back extremely interesting. Especially when we almost hit the moose in the middle of the freeway a couple of hours later. (We didn't, thanks to Don's incredible reflexes). Still, the trip was one of our most successful in terms of wildlife spotting:

2 baby black bears
3 or 4 black bear yearlings
6 to 7 adult black bears
1 Great Horned Owl
3 lynx (lynxes?)
a handful of bunnies
1 white-tail deer fawn
1 adult white-tail deer
And, last but certainly not least,
1 adult bull moose

Not Like I Planned

I just re-read my little description at the top of this, and realized that when the REALLY important stuff happens, I don't have time/inclination to blog. For instance, my aunt Juana passed away a couple of weeks ago. Did I think about blogging, no way, no how. Not that I think that's a bad thing (the not blogging, I mean). I was way too busy/upset for such trivial matters.

Also, btw, Don and I decided to become Wiccan last January.

Further from Real Life

Joined twitter yesterday and CovenSpace today. Sigh. And just when I was thinking I needed to connect with people OFF the internet more than on! :)
